Dont forget the Town Show on the 4th September, posters out around the town with category information.
Why not have a go in the flower and veg or homecraft/handicrafts sections? its FREE to enter and prize money to win. Amaze your friends and neighbours by having a try. Help is at hand in the show tent to help with exhibits if your a newbie.

18.08.2011 Community Messaging
There as been a small trend in crime in your area on Clarendon Road a pedal bike was stolen from the side of the house overnight and also another theft of a pedal bike from the rear garden overnight.
On Woodford Walk 3 vehicles were damaged from tyres slashed to Sugar poured into the fuel tank.
Also Westland school was broken into again and a digital camera was stolen.

14.08.2011 VPRA Green Thumbs
We have decided to cancel this years Green Thumbs competition and replace it with a non competitive Bloomin Marvelous event instead. We think it very unfair to judge residents gardens after the heavy rains recently and the unusual growing season we have had.
So this year everyone entered in “Green Thumbs” will be invited to our presentation night and get together and they will also receive a Bloomin Marvelous certificate. Date for the meeting will be announced after Thornaby Show.
We have a number of new gardens entered this year and residents are encouraged to join in and enter their own or neighbours gardens. Closing date is September the 4th.

11.08.2011 Path Clearing
CFYA have been busy this week clearing the overgrown bushes and weeds along the path from the Green to the river. Excellent job and workers taking time to explain to residents what they are doing.

10.08.2011 Park Fires
Reports this morning of 2 wheelie bins burnt out last night in the park. CFYA and police informed, we have had names given by residents and these will be passed on.
If residents obeyed by the “rules” and put out bins on the morning of collection instead of the day before then the lure for the fire bugs would be diminished.

09.08.2011 In Bloom
Today was our turn for judging in the RHS Neighbourhood Awards. Both judges seemed suitably impressed with our efforts and enjoyed their walk on the green and views of the river from Black Bobbies. Then on to the Airman and the Village Park to view the new Wildflower Meadow. The judges had a couple of good conversations in the park with youngsters who were keen to show off their bike skills.

Don’t forget Thornaby Show is at the Harold Wilson Playing Fields on 4th September.

Yorkshire Day events on in the Town Centre today from 10 am. Stalls and attractions for all ages.

04.08.2011 Thornaby Town Hall Update
Stockton Council are now asking for Declarations of Interest from anyone wishing to purchase Thornaby Town Hall. Hopefully there will only be one an that is Thornaby Town Council.

02.08.2011 Britain in Bloom
Thornaby will be visited by the RHS Britain in Bloom Judges on Friday as part of judging Stockton`s entry in this years competition.

The planned judges visit has had to cancelled at short notice due to the judge taking ill this morning. Now penciled in for next Tuesday.

Happy Yorkshire Day to one and all. Thornaby Town Council official Yorkshire Day celebrations is in the Town Centre on Saturday 6th August.
